physical testing

for performance and injury prevention

Testing and benchmarking physical attributes is incredibly useful for athletes, but must be relevant, reliable and brought into the context of you, your goals and life.

Without this it's just numbers.

As a climbing specialist Physiotherapist, with over 15 years coaching experience, I can help you interpret and explain the results and provide you with a written report detailing areas to address and some suggestions on how to do so.

An in depth look at your climbing movement and style to see if it is contributing to injury risk or ongoing issues.

I have started to offer this as I see common habits and movement patterns in patients that feed into ongoing hand, shoulder, elbow and wrist issues.

We can unknowingly adopt movement patterns and styles of climbing that increase our peak loads, time under tension and load certain body parts more heavily than others.

This can happen in response to an injury or the way you climb may have contributed to an injury.

Confidence in falling when bouldering can also be addressed.  If you're anxious when you fall you are likely not landing as well as you could.

You will receive instruction on how to address the technique issues and a short written report.

This is an 'on the wall' session and bouldering based. Please arrive warmed up and ready to go so we can make the best of our time together.

Some off the wall testing may be used if I feel strength/control is an important factor and exercises will be prescribed if this is the case.
