eco info

I am a (very) small business, but I passionately believe that we should all make the changes we can to make a difference.
It all adds up.
Right from the start I wanted to make my products in the UK, from UK sourced materials, and ship them in an eco friendly way as possible. It costs me (not you) more but i sleep better at night.

If you can see a way I can improve this aspect of my business please let me know, i'm always wanting to be better in this area.

Fingerboards

20mm and 40mm unlevel edge

Both of these edges are produced using UK sourced FSC certified sustainable Ash from a local timber merchant. Paul, who makes each one by hand, brings them to the climbing wall where I work when he comes for a climb. As few miles as possible.

Packaging

Unlevel edges and pulley splints

I use packaging from Green Planet Packing based in Leicester UK for my edges and pulley splint. 100% compostable (not ideal, but better than alternatives) and they support ocean charities.

Packaging and manufacture

Pulley Splints

The splints are made from recycled PLA+. This is a plant based plastic. Let's not kid ourselves. It's not compostable unless you industrially shred it. It's still a plastic. But there's no other material available yet to make these from. At least it's not oil based plastic AND it's recycled PLA+.

The are presented in recycled cardboard tubing and posted out either in recycled cardboard boxes or compostable envelopes from Green Planet Packing.

Book

The Self-Rehabbed Climber

Printed in the UK using environmentally friendly(er) dyes and on recycled paper. Kept in house (the same company prints, stores and ships orders) so there's no unnecessary travelling up and down the motorway. Shipped in compostable wrapping. Not ideal, but it needs to be waterproof.

Overseas postage is available - but you can also order from Amazon and the book is then printed in your country, saving air miles.
